How SIPI Drives Regenerative Transformation

Focus Areas

SIPI’s strategy revolves around three Lighthouse Missions: Resource, Health, and Food & Nutrition Sovereignty; supported by cross-cutting enablers: Shared Narratives, AI-powered Intelligence, and Transformative Finance; and change levers: Policy Adaptation, Business Model Innovation, and Infrastructure; that translate ambition into measurable outcomes across Switzerland’s economy and society.

Lighthouse Missions

SIPI's lighthouse missions reflect core pillars of Switzerland’s socio-economic model: strong agricultural and food heritage, world-class healthcare and industrial and scientific excellence. Yet, these very strengths now require adaptation to meet new realities and upcoming challenges from climate and demographic transitions to shifting global trade dynamics.

  • Switzerland’s future prosperity relies on separating economic growth from resource consumption and overcoming dependence on linear, wasteful models. The Resource Sovereignty Mission drives a shift toward a regenerative, low-carbon, and circular economy built on sufficiency, innovation, and collaboration. By 2035, Switzerland aims to cut consumption-based emissions by 45%, shrink its material footprint by 30%, and secure lasting prosperity within planetary limits.

  • Switzerland, though a global leader in healthcare, faces rising chronic diseases, ageing, and inequality. The Sustainable Longevity Mission envisions a shift from treating illness to sustaining vitality through prevention, personalisation, and digital innovation rooted in fairness. By 2035, it aims to cut preventable diseases by 25%, extend healthy life expectancy, and ensure equitable digital health access for 90% of citizens—creating a regenerative health system that values wellbeing over disease.

  • Switzerland’s prosperity depends on sustainably and equitably nourishing its people while restoring harmony with nature. The Food and Nutrition Sovereignty Mission aims to build resilient, regenerative food systems that strengthen communities, reduce dependence on global supply chains, and link soil health with human well-being. By 2035, it targets 60% regenerative farmland, a 35% cut in food emissions, and 80% local sourcing for institutional meals—advancing a future where every meal sustains life and community vitality.

Enablers

Behind every lighthouse mission lie three transversal enablers: the cultural, digital, and financial engines that ensure coherence, accelerate change, and sustain Switzerland’s regenerative prosperity. They turn ideas and visions into movements, data into insight, and financial capital into lasting value.

  • Transitions succeed when people understand not only what must change, but why. Shared Narratives cultivate a common cultural foundation for transformation by linking facts to values, evidence to emotion, and individual experience to collective direction. They restore trust in institutions and reinforce the legitimacy of innovation by ensuring that change is not imposed, but co-owned. Through dialogue, imagination, and cultural creativity, they transform the regenerative transition from a policy agenda into a shared story of Swiss identity and purpose.

  • Digital intelligence is one of Switzerland’s greatest assets. SIPI leverages artificial intelligence and digital twins to accelerate the regenerative transition while taking into account regional specificities ensuring that progress remains human-centered, transparent, and inclusive. Data and algorithms becomes a common good: a means to anticipate risks, optimise resources, and design fairer, more resilient systems.

  • Finance is the bloodstream of transitions. The Transformative Finance programme aims to rewire the architecture of investment so that capital actively enables social and ecological regeneration. Beyond SIPI’s lighthouse missions, it provides the connective tissue between policy, markets, and purpose, ensuring that Switzerland’s financial system supports long-term wellbeing and planetary balance. By mobilising public, private, and philanthropic actors around shared intelligence, standards, and incentives, it turns finance into an enduring instrument of transformation: one that measures success by resilience, inclusivity, and sustained value creation.

Change Levers

Policy adaptation, business model innovation and infrastructure for transition are the linchpin between SIPI’s vision and implementation, ensuring that prosperity evolves coherently across instruments, enterprises, and territories.

  • Adaptive Policies allow Switzerland to move from vision to implementation by ensuring that its legal, fiscal, and regulatory frameworks support regenerative prosperity and anticipate future needs. They embody an agile form of governance that tests, learns, and adjusts dynamically.

  • To regenerate prosperity, enterprises must reimagine how value is created, distributed, and measured. Business Model Innovation empowers companies, from global corporations to local SMEs, to integrate ecological and social regeneration into their core strategies while maintaining competitiveness and excellence.

  • To ensure that the transformation ensure, the infrastructure needs to reflect the values of the regenerative prosperity. This lever helps build the enabling infrastructure—physcial, digital, and human capital—that allows Switzerland’s prosperity transition to scale and endure.

Operating Model

Think.

SIPI convenes a multi-stakeholder intelligence process that connects public institutions, business leaders, scientists, and civil society around shared missions. Through thematic expert groups and the Enduring Prosperity Intelligence Suite (EPIS), it translates research and data into transformation pathways, informing mission design, policy adaptation, and investment alignment, anchored in a mutli-stakeholder co-creation process.

Act.

SIPI catalyses mission-aligned enterprises, regional pilots, and public–private partnerships that demonstrate what regenerative prosperity looks like in practice. These initiatives serve as living laboratories, where innovation, finance, and governance are tested and scaled. Through collaborative ecosystems, SIPI bridges sectors to ensure that breakthrough ideas become shared outcomes rather than isolated experiments.

Orchestrate.

SIPI aligns the system. Its governance brings coherence across actors and levels through a Consortium of over 50 organisations, a Scientific Council, and a Sounding Board of senior leaders. This structure ensures scientific rigour, legitimacy, and coordination, enabling adaptive policy shifts that transcend electoral cycles and short-term incentives, helping catalyse national strategies.
